Experience

Kate Smith (Franchisee) - I have always worked in the Early Years Sector, mainly in a nursery environment. I set up and I managed one of Exeter's largest nursery settings, for over 11 years. My passion for early sensory development has only grown since having my own two children now 9 and 5 years old, who both benefited hugely from sensory activity due to their prematurity. I volunteer for an amazing charity called SNUG (Supporting Neonatal Users and Graduates).  I believe that the Baby Sensory experience is such a wonderful bonding opportunity.

Jen Irwin (Class Leader) - I am very pleased to have Jen as my class leader from January 2017, Jen is mum to Rueben who joined us at Baby Sensory at just six weeks old and graduated after almost a year of wonderful classes. Jen was due back to work in customer services when our class leader role became available and she jumped at the opportunity to carry on with this wonderful development programme for other mums to enjoy and make such precious memories!

We would like to welcome you all to our Exeter and Exmouth classes.

Qualifications

Kate Smith (Franchisee) - I am a qualified Nursery Nurse and part way through my Early Years Degree with the Open University. I am first aid qualified and I am a Safeguarding Officer. I have had DBS checks and have attended numerous training courses on child development. I have trained as a Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense class leader.

Jen Irwin (Class Leader) - Jen has completed her two day Class Leader course at Baby Sensory head office in Salisbury. She has attended a year of baby Sensory classes with her son and has a previous work history in Customer services.

Lots of very happy babies have enjoyed Baby Sensory in Exeter. Here's what some of our mums have to say about their experiences:

WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO JOIN IN OUR BABY SENSORY EXPERIENCE!!!

I started doing baby sensory when Harriet was 6mths old, I had really wanted to do this class, so was very pleased when Abi began running classes in Exeter. Harriet loved it from the first taster class right through to our last class, a couple of weeks after Harriet's first birthday.Over the past 6mths Harriet has changed so much, but there was always something for her, to catch her attention and keep her engaged. The classes are well organised and thought through. There are plenty of tips to take away and sensory things that you can easily repeat at home with your baby. The exploratory play session is not only great for baby but great for mums and the occasional dad to chat, swap stories and make friends.

I loved every minute of doing baby sensory with my little girl and Ruby loved it too. It gave me some fantastic ideas of what to do at home and new songs and actions to sing with Ruby. I even bought some pom poms for her and she still loves to watch them being shaken about. The 'Say Hello' song is a great hit with her and I only need to hum the tune and Ruby stares and smiles at me! I really think because of these classes it has led to Ruby to become more alert and she takes everything in! For me, I'm quite shy and the group encourages you to have fun with your baby and then socialize with the other mums and babies there in a relaxed environment and I have made some great friends. I'm really sad not to be continuing because of work but have recommended you and baby sensory as a whole to friends all round and me and Ruby will take what we have learnt from the classes to have fun at home!!

My 4 month old daughter Niobe and I really enjoyed our Baby Sensory sessions. The activities were simple but varied and innovative and the songs were catchy. Have been able to use ideas at home too. Highly recommended! And teacher Abi is brilliant!

My baby loved lights and sensory experiences from the start so when I read about baby sensory I knew it would be perfect. I was so pleased Abi was about to start a class close by.
Sofia loved it from the start. Every week we, along with the babies would look forward to exciting and engaging classes. Each one full of wonderful sensory experiences, bubbles, bells, songs and stories, every session completely different. I was so impressed by Abi's attention to detail, enthusiastiam and effort. Her classes quickly became the highlight of our week. She also encouraged us to try out different activities at home to help encourage our babies development, which were easy to recreate without much cost.
I met many other lovely, friendly, approachable mums along the way too.
The only downside was that I had to eventually go back to work! :(

Thank you so much for the groups you run.  They have all been great!! fab location, brilliant presentation lovely activities - What i have loved the most is the ideas you have given us to try at home.

We have very much enjoyed our Baby Sensory sessions! Killian and I are very sad that we will not be back to Baby Sensory and will miss our Thursday meetings very much! Each week, Abi greeted us with yet another meticulously planned lesson, involving a range of sensory activities. Every activity both engaged and entertained the babies, and many were mesmerised by the puppet shows! All senses were catered for, sight, sounds, touch and even inadvertently, taste during a very yummy activity involving jelly! There were different themes every week and even though Killian wasn't crawling or moving much he got a lot out of every session because the activities are geared towards mobile and immobile babies. Abi was so well prepared and her range of resources is unbelievable! She must have spent hours preparing resources, not to mention how long it must have taken her to pack up after each session. She was very considerate and kind and we thoroughly recommend Baby Sensory as a must for babies!
